Its environment is a rich multicultural one: every year over 800 students come to the School from 120 countries. Staff are drawn from 37 nationalities.

Since coming here as Director in 2001, I have been impressed by the energy and commitment of the School and its staff. We collaborate in research with over 115 countries throughout the world, utilizing our critical mass of multidisciplinary expertise which includes clinicians, epidemiologists, statisticians, social scientists, molecular biologists and immunologists.

The School's focus on the health of populations as a framework for our research and teaching will continue to bring us new opportunities in the UK, in Europe and abroad.
