Overseas Development Group (ODG)

Advancing the understanding of development through research-intensive studies, short courses and projects

The Overseas Development Group (ODG) has been in existence for over 35 years. The Group is a charitable company wholly owned by the University of East Anglia (UEA) and manages the research, training and consultancy activities undertaken by the faculty members of the University's School of Development Studies, one of the UK's leading teaching and research institutions in its field. Working with others, our objective is to advance the understanding of development, leading to improved life and work outcomes for individuals and communities.

ODG provides a wide range of scheduled and customised training and skills development courses, workshops and seminars designed for people involved in practical aspects of development planning, management and implementation. Participants from more than 100 countries have attended ODG events over the years. A typical comment is as follows:

"I enjoyed very much my stay in Norwich for the short course. My heartiest thanks to you all for making it so profound& .the course was interesting, reflective and a real learning experience"
